ABS Canada's emergency response team consisting of Gary Spicer, Dewatering Specialist and Gord Schmidt, Service Manager, responded rapidly by having a complete solution on site and functioning by 4 pm the same day.
Two inches from flooding
Upon arrival at the station the bottom floor was completely submerged in sewage including all electrical panels and motors for the main pumps. The City of Toronto downtown beaches area was within two inches from flooding.
The solution consisted of using one 575V electrical ABS submersible drainage pump J205ND, with 140 feet of 6" hard discharge hose complete with all the necessary accessories plus one complete stand-by system. The ABS supplied solution removed 3,4 cubic meters per minute (750 USGPM) of sewage overflow from the pump station.
Quick response
The City of Toronto wrote: "Thank you ABS Canada, your quick response and excellent equipment enabled us to remove the flood waters from the basement of the T-building very quickly as our original estimate was close to three days to pump the area clear but, by using ABS equipment we were able to have our main pumps back on line by 2 pm the following day.
"I am very proud of our professional and committed team", says General Manager Jason Goldberg, ABS Canada. “This project is a great example on how to build a loyal customer base.”
